CfP Special Issue on Reimagining Totemism

Call for Papers: Special Issue on Reimagining Totemism: Mystical Experience, Life Values, and Contemporary Art Practices

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce an open call for submissions to an interdisciplinary special issue exploring the theme of totemism. This issue seeks to move beyond traditional theories of totemism, reimagining it as a dynamic spiritual framework that connects human consciousness with mystical realities. We invite contributions from diverse perspectives, including neurophenomenology, recent folklore and ethnology studies, theology, history, and contemporary art practices.

We particularly encourage submissions in the following areas:

  • Comparative historical analyses of totemism
  • The interplay between mystical experience and material culture
  • Totem reconstruction in contemporary art practices
  • Ecological relationships from a posthumanist perspective
  • Totemism and ontological pluralism
